Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to the most common questions about VKFLEX products, applications.
What exactly kind of products does VekaFlex offer?
Vekaflex is a brand specialized in the construction chemicals industry. Our primary focus is on high-performance waterproofing systems, specialized paints (pool, floor, etc.), repair mortars, and surface protection products. We provide professional solutions that extend the lifespan and enhance the comfort of structures.
Are your products suitable for professional use or DIY (Do-It-Yourself) users?
Our product range appeals to both segments. While some of our technical insulation systems require professional application, many of our products, such as our pool paints, can be easily applied by end-users provided that correct surface preparation is performed. The application difficulty level is specified in the technical data sheet of each product.
Do you provide technical support services?
Yes. You can receive support from our technical team via phone or email regarding issues you encounter before or during application. We also provide consultancy on selecting the right product for your projects.
Does VekaFlex Pool Paint only provide color, or does it also provide waterproofing?
Thanks to its special formula, VekaFlex Pool Paint offers both an aesthetic appearance and contributes to insulation by creating a waterproof barrier on the applied surface. However, if there are serious structural cracks or water leaks in the pool, the surface must be improved with appropriate VekaFlex repair and insulation mortars before painting.
Is your pool paint resistant to chlorine and sunlight (UV)?
Yes. Our pool paints are formulated to show high resistance against the corrosive effects of pool chemicals (chlorine, algaecide, etc.) and the UV rays of the sun. This allows it to maintain its color and protective properties for many years.
Which surfaces can it be applied to?
Our products generally adhere perfectly to mineral-based surfaces such as concrete, plaster, and screed. Before applying to previously painted surfaces, the durability of the old paint should be checked, and sanding must be performed.
What is the shelf life of your products?
When stored in its original unopened packaging in a cool and dry environment, the shelf life of most of our products is 12 months from the date of production.
How should surface preparation be done before pool paint application?
Surface preparation is the foundation of a successful application. The surface must be completely dry, clean, and free from dust, oil, and loose particles. For new reinforced concrete pools, at least 28 days should be allowed for the concrete to cure. Moss and dirt on old surfaces should be cleaned with pressurized water, and sanding should be done if necessary.
Do I need to thin the paint?
For the first coat (primer coat) application, thinning can be done with an appropriate thinner at the rate specified in the product’s technical data sheet (usually 10-15%). The second coat is generally applied without thinning. Please follow the instructions on the product you are using.
